Shorebird ID central South Australian salt pan - RNS or sanderling (1 Viewer)

Any thoughts on these birds appreciated - photographed on a salt pan flooded by recent rain near Coober Pedy - central south Australia. Some think this is a RNS but I think the bill is wrong. Photos are the same bird.

Bill is OK for RNS, imo. Note that Sanderling lacks a hind toe (unique and diagnostic feature among Calidris), which this bird has.
