if the attached bird was not the colour scheme that it had i'd say it was a shoveler, but as it is i'm not sure - a leucistic duck ?
pictures taken first week of September at the Le Teich Reserve Ornithologique (east of Arcachon)

if it wasn't for the second image i would tend to agree, but does that bill look like a shelduck's ? it seems very wide
