had a wander down to see if i could find any grasshopper warblers - no such luck

anyway - watching a reed warbler when i turn to catch a smallish wader (bigger than Little ringed plover size imho).
It flew low across the water with fluttering wing beats maybe 3-4 then a pause then more fluttering, pause and repeat - flew in a slow zigzag fashion (this was not an escape from a predator flight - more a moving on). appeared to be grey/light brown with a bill (medium size). Oh and a white bar across the rear of the wings.

I am not great with waders - much much more practice needed - so their is no Jizz from me....i suspect this may....common sandpiper????

any thoughts

was interested by the flight pattern more than anything

Quite possible. Check this link for some videos and see if the impression matches.
