Some waders in Sri Lanka (1 Viewer)

Sirijay, lovely photos: Common sandpiper, 2 Little ringed plover, Kentish plover and Marsh sandpiper.

Perhaps of interest is that two subspecies of LRP occur in SL in winter, the migratory nominate dubius and the breeding jerdoni. As yours are juvenile it is hard to tell which, but adult jerdoni when in breeding (or coming in to breeding plumage) can look quite different - I have seen both subspp at Yala in February

Interesting and informative note abut the Little Ringed Plover. My field guides do identify the two subspecies as well, but not much is stated beyond that. Thank you again.
