Spotted this little guy (or gal) along the Kel Fox Trail south of Sedona, AZ. The id app on my phone stated clay-colored sparrow. Looks like that could be the case, but the range is not quite right. What do you think? Initial files - OhioHick

Excellent. Thanks for the info. That's a lifer for me. We'll see what else I see while here in AZ (here for the month of October). I'm sure to be bothering y'all with more sightings! :)
 
Looks like a Chipping Sparrow to me. The dark eye-line continues through the lores, and the auricular lacks some of the outline. Clay-colorde looks less richly colored on the back as well (more clay-like).
