Stithians reservoir (1 Viewer)

A few of us are heading down to Cornwall at the weekend for a pelagic. We’re hoping to pick up a few year ticks along the way but the only time I’ve tried to access stithians reservoir has been long rocky tracks and not getting anywhere. What’s the best way to access?

It depends which part you want to access. There's 2 causeways at the north and south end, tho I understand the Black Duck is no longer on offer from the Golden Lion. There used to be a hide, accessed from the southern causeway, tho I'm afraid I haven't been for a very long time.
Dantheman is the chap to ask, perhaps try sending a PM. 🙂👍🐦

Something I did a while back, not sure if publicly viewable now??? -

As Jogresh says, main excitement is usually at the two cutoffs, viewable from the causeways or hides. The two southern hides are accessed through the heavy metal gates directly on the roadside. Not been up recently, but the Golden Lion hide was closed, although roadside viewing is better views anyway perhaps. There is also long term ongoing disruption to the roads between Camborne and Rame for installing broadband/optics - the road eg north of Carnmenellis was completely closed for a few months. An online travel app may have information??

You can walk around the reservoir in 1.5 - 3 hours, although some non reservoir and road walking in the SW corner.

Facilities by the watersports centre at the NW corner, although you now have to pay for parking. There is limited free roadside parking to the north of the cutoff too though. Parking at the south end limited but usually fine. SWLakes have also renamed it 'Stithians Lake'. I should be up this weekend for the WeBS count.
