Swimming or drowning Grasshopper? (1 Viewer)

Hi all

Perhaps a stupid question but do Grasshoppers swim?? Today I saw several hop into water as I was walking along the bank and most landed on vegetation and were able to get back onto the bank but one landed in the water and swam underwater quite proficiently. It wasn't just struggling in the water.

Any ideas???

Funny enough I noticed the same thing for the first time last week. They seemed to purposely head for the water. Most of the ones that landed in the water swam on the surface though. I don't know which species was involved.
