Texas Birding at lower Rio Grande Valley (1 Viewer)

Hi all;

Planning a trip to Rockport, Tx. and then south to EdinRio Grande Valley around Brownsville in Nov. of this year. Any suggustions where to go for a good birding experience in these two locations? Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

There is an ABA guide to lower Rio Grande Valley and another for the coast, you could do a lot worse than picking up a copy. In addition, take a look at this thread: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=215284 and follow some of the links and other advise that gave me a lot of help when I visited last new year.

Hi Bluedog;
When you are in the lower RDV you should go to Estero Llano Grande State Park and Bentsen State Park. Check out this web site which describes the World Birding Center sites in the RGV. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_br_p4502_0058q.pdf

Everyone has favorites. Mine are South Pardre Island, Laguna Atascosa WR and Estero LLano SP in the Lower Valley and Santa Ana WR and Benson SP in the Upper. Paul and Niels recommendations above are also good.
