which raptor bird ? (1 Viewer)

Looks more like a Shikra to me - (the breast pattern (large tear drops/thick rufous bars at the sides of the breast and general structure don’t look right for ES imo) An immature ES has finer breast markings. Look at those thick toes too.

the beautiful heart shaped markings on flanks look indeed good for Shikra

Your absolutely right Deb it is a moulting juvenile Shikra. The combination of rufous tear drop streaks to upper breast and heart shaped markings to lower breast + bars on sides are all typical of juvenile Shikra Also note tail is weakly barred and shape of tip which is clearly graduated, Eurasian Sparrowhawk is squarer ended. I think you can just make out the dark gular stripe at a push and there is no sign of a yellow orbital ring.

Grahame.

Think that's correct as well
