Thank you Andrew.Yes - lovely picture.
It's there but difficult to seeHello,
any more pictures? I dont have confident points against a Whimbrel here, but my first gut feeling was 1 cy Curlew:
So I hope that all have a second deeper look. Thanks!
- I miss the pale median-crown-stripe of many Whimbrels. Yes, some Whimbrels lack them, at least unser field conditions
Or are we looking at a fine pale oversharpened edge to the front of the crown (as present also on the top and rear of the crown) with a bit of dark muck on the background behind? - giving the impression of a very narrow hint of a pale median crown-stripe 🤷🏻 Tricky. It's there but difficult to see

Thanks for the info shot taken yesterday 31-7-24.Hello again,
once more: thanks for the new pictures!
If taken recently, the worn outer primaries and ragged tail makes this an adult bird and no 1cy bird, as I mentioned in my first post (as juvenile Curlews have the shortest bills)
Hi Bob more pics.Yes, that definitely looks like a whimbrel. The curved bill and dark stripes on the head are key features. Also, notice the light belly and long legs, which help with identification. Love these birds, their migrations are just amazing! If you have more photos, please share them! It’s always great to see different angles.![]()
