I saw this spectacular moth on a night walk on 24th January. It si impossible to tell the real colours as it was seen under red light. I was wondering if it is possible to identify. Thanks, Phil

Brilliant! I have had a look at the Oleander Hawkmoth and the Jade Hawkmoth - both would seem to be in range in Sri Lanka. The patterning on the wing seem to be a closer match for the Jade but I cannot see the white spot at the end of the forewing. Is it possible to distinguish between the two without the benefit of colour?

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Jade Hawkmoth. I'm just familiar with Oleander whose distribution I knew covered much of Asia as well as southern Europe & vagrant to UK.
