Zenith 20x50 --Wow! (1 Viewer)

In the constant search for something nice I recently blew £10 on a pair of Zenith 20x60 on Ebay and boy, was I in for a surprise!

They have an interesting set of marks:
Left cover "Mark Scheffel Optics - Zenith - coated optics -triple tested".
Right cover "20x50 - field 2.52" and "No 30613" stamped in underneath.

The Japanese manufacturers mark is JB147 (Sankaku Kogaku Kogyo Co.) and there is a further stamped number on the hinge end "No. 3550".

External condition is well-used but internally all clean. The surprise came when I used them. Wow - just blew me away. They are sharper and crisper than my 10x50 Jenoptems at all ranges; for birding at 15 metres they better my Olympus 8x40 and for a plane at 25000 feet they match 15x70 Celestrons. (I would add that the claimed "20x50" seems more like "15x50" to my amateur eyes)

An unbelievable all round performance together with a nice balance and reasonable weight (no tripod needed)and all from a pair of binoculars you will likely find in your local charity shop.

Amazing is all I can say, but make a note of them - Zenith (not Super Zenith)20x50; absolute tops.
