Identification
23cm. Male - olive-brown above, paler and greyer below, dark narrow streaks radiating across buff-grey chin and throat onto the breast, orange-yellow bill, flesh-coloured to yellow legs, orange underwing-coverts. Female - similar, paler overall, buff below with dark shaft streaks on the belly and flanks, duller-coloured bill.
Distribution
South-western Saudi Arabia and western Yemen.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Mountainous areas with a dense cover of native trees and shrubs including woodlands, thickets, copses, orchards and large gardens.
Behaviour
Its nest is firm cup made of dry grass, small twigs, moss and thin bark strips, with a mud interior lined with fine grass and rootlets. 1-3 eggs are laid.
The diet includes invertebrates such as snails, and fruits.
