Identification

A small fulvetta (11.5cm), resembling southern subspecies of Streak-throated Fulvetta¹:

• Brown above, whitish below
• Streaks on throat and breast (Grey-hooded Fulvetta is unstreaked)
• Greyish-brown crown with long brown lateral crownstripe
• Grey wingpanel on primaries

Sexes similar. Juveniles are darker above and duller below.

Distribution

Found in S China (Gansu to Xizang, NW Yunnan and Sichuan).
Locally common.¹

Monotypic.^{1, 2}
Like other Fulvettas this species is also placed in Fulvetta.¹

Habitat

Rhododendron, shrubbery and oak. Found from 2200m to 4300m.¹

Behaviour

No data available on diet. Feeds probably on invertebrates.
Breeding season July to August (June to July in Xizang). The nest is suspended from a branch of bamboo and made of grass, moss and lichen. Lays 4 eggs.
Resident species.¹
