- Chalcostigma heteropogon
Identification
Male is mostly bronzy but with gorget consisting of shiny green throat which at the bottom has an inverted V which is pink and elongated. Rump and tail reddish.
Female similar except that she lacks gorget.
Distribution
Far western Venezuela but mainly Colombia.
Taxonomy
Habitat
High altitude grassland and scrubs, especially in rocky areas. May go to edge of cloud forest but not internal.
Behaviour
Forages usually alone and low.
