South Asia.

Taxonomy

Three subspecies recognized:

  • U. p. pallidipes in the Himalayan foothills east to northern Burma
  • U. p. laurentei in southern China, winters to northwest Thailand, northern Laos and northern Vietnam
  • U. p. osmastoni on the Andaman Islands

It was formerly placed in the genus Cettia.
