Identification
Location: Mt. Samat, Bataan Province, Philippines (site of one of the epic battles of WWII) Smallest barbet..redlegs and greenish white underparts with bold green streaks diagnostic.Forehead and upper breast band red,sides of face black,throat,patch under the eye and lower breast yellow.
Distribution
India through south China and Sout-east Asia through Sumatria,Java,Bali and Philippines.
Habitat
Mangroves edges, open country, wooded gardens even towns and cities.
Habits
Perches on bare branchs or high tension wires..in groups often..up to six. Unlike like its larger congeners it does not always frequent the canopy but will often feed low on small fruits in tree and brushs.
