Identification
36cm. Purple brown plumage, pale scaly appearance to the neck and underparts. Lower underparts are white edged with purple. Red eyering, legs and white tipped red bill. The female is dull dark brown, and is slightly smaller than the male.
Distribution
Southern Mexico, Ecuador, southern Brazil, northern Argentina, and Trinidad.
Taxonomy

Habitat
Semi-open forest.
