- C. m. nigrifrons:
- Coastal north-eastern Brazil (Paraíba to Alagoas)
- C. m. perspicillata:
- Eastern Brazil (coastal Bahia and (?) adjacent Sergipe)
- C. m. melanops:
- South-eastern Brazil (Espírito Santo to Santa Catarina)

Moist lowland Atlantic forest, forest edges and dense vegetation.
