Identification

11–13 cm (4¼-5 in)

  • Bronzy-green upperparts
  • White postocular spot
  • Rosy-purple gorget

Distribution

South America: endemic to the Pacific slope of Andes of Peru.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Dry scrub and steep canyon walls. Observed at 2800 m.

Behaviour

Diet

They feed on the nectar of flowering agave and cactus. There is little other information.
