Distribution
South-east Asia: found only in the Philippines.
Taxonomy
Placed in the genus Pardaliparus by Gill and Donsker.
Subspecies
There are 9 subspecies[1]:
- P. e. edithae: Northern Philippines (Calayan and Camiguin Norte)
- P. e. montigenus: Northern Philippines (north-western Luzon)
- P. e. gilliardi: Northern Philippines (Bataan Peninsula of central Luzon)
- P. e. elegans: Philippines (central and southern Luzon, Panay, Mindoro and Catanduanes)
- P. e. albescens: Philippines (Guimaras, Masbate, Negros and Ticao)
- P. e. visayanus: Philippines (Cebu)
- P. e. mindanensis: Philippines (Samar, Leyte, Biliran and Mindanao)
- P. e. suluensis: Sulu Archipelago (Jolo, Tawitawi and Sanga Sanga)
- P. e. bongaoensis: Bongao Island (Sulu Archipelago)
Habitat
Lowland damp forests and montane mossy forest.
