Identification
14 cm (5½ in)
Male is mostly green with bluish throat and white post-ocular spot. The puffs around the legs and the entire forked tail are white. Bill is long, black, and straight.
Female has similar upper side but underside rufous-cinnamon and tail is bronzy with small pale tips.
Distribution
South America: found in the Santa Marta Mountains (north-eastern Colombia).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Cloud forest above 1400 m asl; seems to have difficulty with habitat disturbance.
Behaviour
Food includes both nectar and invertebrates. Seems to be quite territorial.
