Identification
24cm. The adult male has a large scarlet bib, smaller and darker in female and especially in juveniles.
Distribution
Locally in Andes of Colombia and western Venezuela to south-eastern Peru

This is a monotypic species1.

Habitat
Humid forests, edges, second growth, and fields.
Behaviour
The diet includes fruits, seeds, sawflies, wasps, bees, ants and beetles.
