Genus: Aratinga
Description
Long-tailed smaller parrots with mostly green colors and distibuted in the Americas
Taxonomy
Aratinga is a genus in the Family Psittacidae. Recent resarch has shown it to be polyphyletic and a number of species were moved in other genera (Eupsittula, Thectocercus and Psittacara). Nanday Parakeet on the other hand is now included in this genus.
Aratinga pintoi was changed to Aratinga maculata according to international nomenclature rules.
