Distribution
Australia: found in montane rainforests of north-eastern Queensland (Cooktown to Paluma).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly placed in the genus Lichenostomus.
Habitat
Upland rainforests, swamp woodlands, drier forests adjacent to rainforests, above 600m. Also visits gardens.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes nectar, beetles and insects.
Breeding
It builds a deep cup nest of fine twigs and tendrils lined with plant-down. The clutch consists of 2 reddish-stipped white eggs.
