All black with reddish-purple under-tail; sharp, thin bill.
Distribution
South America: found in the western Andes of northern Peru (Cajamarca) southern Peru and possibly extreme northern Chile
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Bushy and flowery areas on the high Andes
Behaviour
Diet
Their main diet consists of nectar gathered in hover-flight.
