This is a polytypic species^[1] consisting of 2 subspecies.

Subspecies

C. p. rothschildi:

Cyclops Mountains and montane slopes above Idenburg River

C. p. pulchella:

Montane forests of New Guinea

An additional subspecies bella is generally considered to be invalid^[2].
