Description

A beautiful golden warbler of the Eastern United States, the Prothonotary Warbler also known as the "Golden Swamp Warbler" is common in wooded swamps and other wet deciduous habitats where it usually forages for insects in the understory. The male is a brilliant golden color with blue-grey wings, the female appears slightly drabber. The song of the Prothonotary warbler is high and clear possessing a metallic quality, tsweet, twseet, twseet, twseet. These Warblers nest in tree cavities and will use a nest box.
