Identification

16–17 cm
Male

  • Black
  • White scapular patches
  • White wing-covert spots
  • Broad white tail band

Distribution

South America: found in Suriname, French Guiana and north-eastern Amazonian Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Moved from genus Sakesphorus to genus Thamnophilus.[1][2]

Habitat

Heavy undergrowth with vines in humid forest or dryer among boulders; swamps.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet is not well recorded but presumably consists of a variety to insects.
