- Synallaxis cabanisi
Identification
17 cm
Crown is rufous, tail and wings are chestnut and the rest of the upperside is dark brown. The rest of the bird is greyish brown with a conspicuous white malar area. Legs are olive, bill two-toned with black upper and grey to silvery lower mandible. Iris brown to reddish.
Distribution
South America: found along the east side of Andes in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil.
Taxonomy
Subspecies[1]
There are 2 subspecies:
- S. c. cabanisi:
- Eastern base of Andes of Peru (north to Huánuco)
- S. c. fulviventris:
- Eastern base of Andes of Bolivia (south to southern Beni and Cochabamba)
Habitat
Moist lowland and foothill forest often along rivers, found up to 1400 m asl.
Behaviour
Incredibly skulking
