Family: Tityridae

Description

Taxonomy

Tityridae if recognized would be a family in the Order Passeriformes. It consists of a group of genera that has traditionally been placed in Cotingidae, Pipridae, or Tyrannidae, namely genera Iodopleura, Laniisoma, Tityra, Pachyramphus, Schiffornis, Xenopsaris, and Laniocera. Within these genera, two subfamilies have been proposed: Laniisominae including Laniisoma, Laniocera, and Schiffornis; and Tityrinae including Iodopleura, Tityra, Xenopsaris, and Pachyramphus.
