Identification

67-77 cm

  • Pale brown head
  • Darker brown upperparts, wings and tail
  • Chestnut underparts
  • White flecks on breast, belly and wing coverts
  • Whitish supercilium
  • Dark eyebrow
  • Dusky facial skin
  • Reddish-orange throat and dewlap

Rusty-margined Guan

Distribution

South America: found in the lowlands of eastern Brazil (west to Mato Grosso).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Diet

There is very little information available about their diet, but they have been recorded as eating flowers and probably consume fruit as well.
