Chlorostilbon lucidus
Identification
Male: Head mostly green with blue limited, not surrounding eye; bill red with black tip. Upperparts green, contrasting with dark blue, forked tail.
Female differs from the male in having a white streak behind the eye, whitish throat and breast, pale grey tips to the tail and a longer area of black on the bill.
Distribution
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
Taxonomy
Four subspecies are recognized, aureoventris, igneus, pucherani, and berlepschi. This species is sometimes listed as Chlorostilbon lucidus in which case the nominate subspecies also changes to lucidus.
