Identification
Has grey crown and sharp line separating narrow white area under the black mask from grey underside; otherwise very similar to Black-crowned Palm-Tanager.
Distribution
Caribbean: found only in south-western Haiti and three surrounding islands.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized1:
- P. p. poliocephalus:
- Southern peninsular Haiti, Île-à-Vache and Grande Cayemite Island
- P. p. coryi:
- Gonâve Island (east of Haiti)
Habitat
Mangrove, scrub, gardens, city parks, agro-forestry plantations, pine, semi-humid forest, and humid forest.

Diet
Consumes soft-bodied fruit as well as arthropods.
