This page is intended to provide a short, common language, introduction to some of the many types of habitat found around the world. If you find one missing, feel free to add, but please keep the order alphabetical.

Elfin Forest

This habitat name is used in the Caribbean for montane forest at higher elevations, where temperature limits to the growth. Therefore, the top of trees are only 1 to a few meters above ground, and there is no separate canopy; it is continuous with the undergrowth.
