Identification
Taken at La Mangrove, Madagascar The Madagascar magpie-robin is a smallish bird often seen in the understory. The male has a shiny black head and back, the wings are black with a white band across them, the belly is white. The female has a brown head, back and wings (except for a white band across the wings), belly is a light grey.
Distribution
This bird is endemic to Madagascar and has several sub-species through-out the island which differ slightly in coloration.
