24 to 28 cm (9½-11 in)

• Green plumage
• Maroon belly patch
• Yellow-green barred breast and front and sides of neck
• Brownish ear patch
• Black beak
• Maroon undertail
• The dark-tipped primaries are blue on outerwebs, green on innerwebs

Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

• P. f. frontalis:

• Eastern Brazil (Bahia to Rio de Janeiro and northern São Paulo)

• P. f. chiripepe:

• South-eastern Brazil to south-eastern Paraguay and northern Argentina

Atlantic Rainforest, and towns

Behaviour

They move around in flocks
