Overview

The Matagorda County Birding Nature Center is 34 acres in size and is located on the Colorado River, just outside Bay City in the Central Texas Coast region. It has 3 major eco-systems and several botanical gardens which attract many bird and butterfly species. Matagorda County is located on the central migratory flyway and has been #1 in North American Audubon Christmas Bird Counts since 1997.
