Icterus croconotus

Location: Hotel Pantanal Mato Grosso, Pantanal, Brazil.

Identification

Orange crown, nape and back, blue skin round the yellow eye.

Distribution

Guianas, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and northern Argentina.

Taxonomy

Previously considered a subspecies of the Troupial (Icterus icterus), it became a full species: Icterus croconotus and has 2 races: I.c. croconotus and I.c. strictifrons.

Habitat

Forest edge and open woodland.
