Identification

33 cm, of which half is the tail. Bright green, red head, elongated pale eye-ring, green nape, red underwing coverts, red on the neck, thighs, and the leading edge of the wings.

Distribution

Ecuador and northwestern Peru

Taxonomy

Formerly placed in genus Aratinga.

Habitat

Forest edges and partially cleared areas.

Behaviour

They nest in tree cavities and 3-4 eggs are laid, and incubated for 23-24 days. The young fledge after 50 days.
