- Conopophaga lineata
Identification
13cm. short tail and fairly long legs. Reddish-brown, white stripe above the eye (grey in the female) which ends in a tuft of feathers, short tail, long legs.
Distribution
Brazil, Paraguay, north-eastern Argentina and Uruguay.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies are recognized[1]
- C.l. cearae
- C.l. lineata
- C.l. vulgaris
The subspecies cearae was in the past considered a full species and may again warrant such recognition[2].
Habitat
Forest understory and bushes.
Behaviour
They build a cup-shaped nest in a tree, made of sticks and moss. 2 buff-coloured eggs, oval or slightly conical in shape, are laid.
The diet includes insects.
