Identification

13cm. Small olive-brown bird. Breeding males have patches of yellow feathers on the crown and chin. Strong, broad black bill, small white patch on the wing. Females, non-breeding males and juveniles all lack any yellow feathers, and have brown bills and legs.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects, fruit, seeds, birds eggs.

The male builds a domed nest from grasses and plants. 2 eggs are laid and are incubated by the female for 14 days.
