South America: found in humid south-eastern Colombia to northern Bolivia and western Amazonian Brazil.


This is a monotypic species[1].


Lowland, riverine, humid forest.



The diet includes small animals and fish, insects, aquatic crustaceans and fruit.


They nest in June. The clutch consists of 2 eggs.
