Distribution
Asia found in China, Tibet, Nepal
South Asia: Pakistan, India, Eastern and Western Himalayas, Bhutan
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar and Vietnam
Taxonomy
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- C. s. spinoides:
- C. s. heinrichi:
- North-eastern India (south-eastern Assam and Manipur) to western Myanmar (Mount Victoria)
Habitat
Montane open oak and pine forests, rhododendrons, gardens, groves and shrubbery.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of a variety of seeds, including pine, alder and thistle heads.
