Yellow-fronted Parrot - BirdForum Opus

Poicephalus flavifrons

Identification

Length 28 cm. A green parrot with a yellow head. The eye is pale with a blackish eye ring. The upper mandible is brownish-grey and the lower mandible is pale horn.

Distribution

Endemic to Ethiopia.

Taxonomy

Two subspecies have been recognised:[1]

  • P. f. flavifrons
  • P. f. aurantiiceps

Clements[2] regards this species monotypic.

Habitat

Montane forest.
