Identification

Male
- Golden-yellow forehead and throat
- Red crown to hindneck
- Bluish-black lores
- Yellow throat
Female has an all black crown
Distribution
South America: found from eastern and south-eastern Brazil to eastern Paraguay and north-eastern Argentina (Misiones).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Humid forests; cane fields, orchards and palm groves.
Behaviour
Diet
Omnivorous, their diet consists of fruit, berries, seeds, insects and larvae.
