Drummond's Sandwort
Drummond’s Sandwort (Minuartia drummondii: Caryophyllaceae) Also known as Drummond's Stitchwort. Flowers ca. 1.5-2.5 cm (0.75-1.0 in) across. Very showy because they usually grow in large mats.
Habitat
Post Oak Savannah vegetation area. Post oak/yaupon dominated upland at ca. 74 m (243 ft) elevation.
Location
Lick Creek Park, College Station, Brazos County, Texas, USA.

They remind me of our white forest anemones, which also grown in showy carpets and are among the first Spring flowers. Ours have to finish blooming before the birches leaf out because they need the pollinators to see their ultraviolet patterns (almost invisible to the human eye) from above.
