This osprey had just hit the water and if memory serves me correctly he bit off a little more than he could chew. the fish won this battle.

I realy really enjoyed this one, Paul. Superb shot, with a wonderful sense of action. Great work!

Not a bad shot! Best of luck in the competition. If I even see an Osprey I consider it a good year, never mind actually photographing the thing. You Goddamm Yanks don't know how lucky you are! Us Brits have to expedition into the dark unknown to get regular yiews of this bird - risking life and limb at the hands of the Celts to do so. It's very rare we get one in good old Blighty on passage but, things are looking up - we have netted a pair in the rural mid-Lands of England - it can only be a matter of time before we will be blase (there should be an umlaut? or something in there) about them and entering photos to rival you goddam yanks!! In the meantime, we will continue to enjoy the photos you post on this forum and gloat over our common species (which you relish - don't you?) such as the Blue Tit, Bullfinch and Yellowhammer.

Congratulations Paul on winning the July 2004 monthly theme challenge of 'Birds and Water'.

Quite possibly the best Osprey image i've ever seen, and that's saying a lot. This is superb.
