    No sign of any Avocets at Cresswell today. Does anyone know what has happened to them. Could they have been flooded out?

However I saw it on Tuesday but after thr left turn I was told to walk about a mile up the track to a clearing and then look back on myself to view the tree tops. After walking at least a mile I was about to give up when my pal shouted there is a bird...

    6 Leach's Storm Petrels in the scope at once at New Brighton Wirral today. Probably about 20 but difficult as they forced there way against the wind and were blown back frequently. One poor one was devoured by a lesser-black backed gull.

    An extract from B.T.O. - Quail Remarkably some of the Quail arriving now are likely to be birds born this year further South in Europe or North Africa. First broods are capable of migrating just two months after hatching and can be sexually mature at the age of 12-15 weeks

    With a minimum of 5 males singing in one field I am 100% certain the birds were not breeding they were most likely this years young
