7D vs 70D for Bird photography

7D. You only need to look at the number of people using this camera for bird photography. If the 70D were a better option, they'd move to it, but they're not. I suspect all are preferring to wait to see what the much vaunted 7D Mkii might deliver.

    Canon 7D price rise??????

Looks like an announcement on the 7D ii in Spring next year, but unlikely to be in the shops until late Summer / Autumn if previous camera launches are anything to go by.

    canon 7d wanted

I wouldn't even mention Simply Electronics in the same sentence as Hdew. There is no comparison. Hdew fulfil the criteria set out in the OP. How they do it is another matter and the judgement Kingfisher-kid has to make.

    Careful where you buy

My advice would be to never go anywhere near Simply Electronics. Sure their prices are very good, but that's where it ends. I ordered kit from them that they showed in stock, but actually wasn't. After I waited a month and nothing arrived, I cancelled and went elsewhere, but getting the...

I'm getting good service from a Duracell equivalent, as is my stepson. Highly recommended.:t:

    Lenses on Safari

Back from South Africa for just over a week and managed very well with my 100 - 400 on the 7D. The 300 f2.8 would definitely be useful though. You're quite right to be concerned about the dust though. It was a big problem and it's not due to rain there for another 2 -3 months.

    Canon EOS 1D Mkiv Guidance

Hi Roy, my issues with the 7D are around poor focus and noise. I seem to have to shoot at ISO 400 minimum to be able to get a decent shutter speed. I have shots I took in Shetland last year with the 30D from a boat bobbing around in a decent swell and they are superior to shots I took in South...

    Canon EOS 1D Mkiv Guidance

As a newbie on this forum I have quickly learned there is much expertise out there in the use of Canon cameras. I have been birding for around 12 months now and have a few shots using both a 30D and latterly a 7D. My lens is a Canon 100-400 f4.5/5.6 L IS USM. I've never been completely happy...
